What many people seem to have a difficulty grasp is the power of now. What do I mean when I say that? Well, the realization that living in the present and not trying to determine what will happen tomorrow, a month from now or even a year from now is crucial for success.
Thinking grateful thoughts
The thing is that when you start to accept and be grateful for what you have right now, you automatically will shift your perception of your own life.
Whether you want more money in your life or, I don’t know, to become fit it will not happen by thinking that you’re poor right now, and that you are not fit right now. It will happen by taking action, and seeing yourself for who you are.
So, there is this theory that our world exist of multiple universes, and that our future us is shaped by our actions today. This means, that your current state of mind and your current actions is a direct reflection of your future. Whether this is one week, one month or one year from now. Your future is changing with everything that is happening right now.
Evaluate your current situation
That is the power of now. Start by evaluating your current situation and don’t mind the future. This will work out, don’t you worry about it. What do you want to achieve? Define it. Write it down on a piece of paper. Yes, paper, not your iPhone. Why? Because there is scientific evidence that we learn by writing, you are kind of telling your brain to think about what you are writing. However, this is not as powerful when you’re writing on a keyboard.
Define what you want to achieve and then take action. For example, if you want to, let’s say, loose weight, but you have no idea how to start I will give you the greatest tip I’ve ever received. This may sound stupid to some, but walk. Walk one hour everyday, or more preferably two hours everyday if you can make it work. That is it. Do this everyday, 7 days a week, and you will see result. Obviously, what you eat will have an effect in this scenario, but this is at least an amazing start.
So, what does this have to do with “the power of now”? You have taken action according to your goals. If you are consistent and determined, you WILL see results, but of course, like anything else, it takes time. Start appreciating what you have, in this scenario, be grateful for your legs to be able to walk you around for one or two hours everyday.
Focus on the end goal
While you do this, focus on your goal, which for example can be “I want visible abs”. Now, you have to stop thinking “I don’t have abs” and start thinking “I have abs”. One way of getting rid of the negative thoughts, is to not look yourself in the mirror everyday. Try to keep it to, if possible every two weeks. This way you will see results as the progression will be bigger, and instead think about having abs when you are working out.
Again, for many this may seem like a straight forward concept, however, for many it is not. Stay focused on your goals, be determined and be consistent, and you can have whatever you want.
More on this topic in a later post, for now, this is some of the fundamental ideas that I try to implement into my life everyday. And god, have I had success with this. And yes, I got my abs. But, to put this into perspective, it took me 16 weeks with a strict diet and working out almost everyday. Nothing in this life is handed to you. This also have an amazing psychological effect on you, but more on this in the next post.
